Hasta lo que llevo leído (más de la mitad) tengo, en primer lugar, que felicitar a Fabían por su libro; todo lo que se hace con buen hacer y mejor intención es digno de alabanza y encomio. Pero, desde mi punto de vista, creo que le falta rigor histórico. Muchas páginas están basadas en hipótesis faltas de contraste. Especúla mucho (o bastante). Y se deja llevar mucho por el sentimiento más que por la disciplina del método histórico.
De todos modos conozco a Fabian y sé que lo ha hecho sin pretensión ni vanagloria; sino sencilla y humildemente por amor a la Virgen.

A veces el estudio histórico se difumina y aflora el sentimiento. Yo también esperaba un estudio un poco más serio (histórica y documentalmente hablando)Hay datos basados en la hipótesis, el parecer y la tradición oral. Y el lenguaje a veces pierde el rigor científico y aflora el lenguaje sentimental y retórico. De todos modos (la crítica constructiva siempre es buena) doy mi más cordial enhorabuena a Fabián y a la Junta de la Hermandad por apoyar esta iniciativa.

Pues a mi me a parecido un libro muy vueno. sobre todo las canciones y las poesias a la virgen. Ay veces que me se caen las lágrimas al leerlo.

El libro, en general, está bien. Pero hay algunos datos en los que no estoy de acuerdo. Por ejemplo, Fabían da a entender que la imagen actual de la virgen es casi réplica de la anterior, la destruida en la contienda civil española de 1936. NO es así. Es verdad que tiene, en general, los rasgos más comunes (sentada en un pequeño trono, mirando al frente, mayestática, con el niño sentado y bendiciendo...) pero no puede ser una réplica puesto que todos sabemos que la imagen de la Virgen siempre estuvo vestida, con lo que las únicas fotografias que se conservan y se hicieron de la imagen anterior a la guerra siempre aparece vestida (tapada). Nunca sabremos cómo era. El escultor de la talla actual sólo tuvo como soporte orientativo lo que la camarera de entonces le podía decir; pero nunca tuvo una imagen o fotografía en la que fijarse. NO es como ahora, que tenemos cientos de fotos de la talla de la Virgen, tal como es, sin vestir. De todos modos (esto son precisiones históricas) lo importante es el amor que los villarrubieros tenemos a la Virgen María, sea como sea su imagen actual.
